Climate disruption - Russia’s contribution for COP21 - Statement by M. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, President of COP21 (Paris, 31/03/2015)
I welcome Russia’s publication of its national contribution for the COP21 [Paris Climate Conference]. It sets a target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25-30% by 2030 compared to 1990.
Russia is the sixth party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to publish its contribution.
The six parties’ contributions, which account for nearly a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, are an important stage in preparations for the Paris conference.
I encourage all countries to publish their national contributions as soon as possible, in accordance with the decision taken at the COP19 in Warsaw and confirmed at the COP20 in Lima./.
