Climate – Development – Visit by Ms. Annick Girardin to Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Niger (April 25 to 28, 2015)

Ms. Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophonie will visit Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Niger from April 25 to 28, 2015.

She will work with our West African partners, and in particular with Mr. Michel Kafando, interim President of Burkina Faso, and Mr. Mahamadou Issoufou, President of Niger, on preparations for the 2015 Paris Climate Conference and on ways to reconcile the fight against climate disruption and sustainable development. She will review the contributions of these two countries to COP21.

In Abidjan, she will meet with Dr. Raymonde Goudou Coffie, Minister of Health, and will participate in World Malaria Day, together with Jean-Paul Moatti, President of the Research Institute for Development, and Mark Dybul, Executive Director of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Ms. Girardin will sign French Development Agency financing agreements relating to food security for the populations of eastern Burkino Faso (€34 million), health in Niger (€13 million), and water and sanitation in Niamey (€26 million)

Ms. Girardin will meet with representatives of civil society in these three countries to discuss all of these issues.
