Bastille Day: France honors international victims of the First World War on 14th July 2014

The Military Parade of 14th July commonly known as “The Bastille Day Military Parade” is a French military parade which is held on the morning of 14th July each year in Paris.

The parade passes down the Champs-Elysées from l’Arc de Triomphe to Place de la Concorde where the President of the French Republic, his government and foreign ambassadors to France stand. This is a very popular event in France, broadcast on French TV, and is one of the oldest regular military parades in the world.

On the 14th of July 2014, France also commemorated the centennial of the First World War which began in August 1914 and all the countries of which soldiers were involved in this terrible conflagration have been invited to participate in the military parade.

Representatives of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan bearing the flag of Pakistan marched on the Champs-Elysées as part of this military parade as well as four young Pakistani students (two boys and two girls).
